Leadership Matters: New Podcast Coming from SMU

I am pleased to announce that a colleague and I, Professor John Davis of SMU, are currently creating a new podcast we will call Leadership Matters.  We chose this double entrendre so that we can discuss both the depth and breadth of leadership issues facing business professionals.  To quote Patrick Awuah who is currently my favorite public presenter, “leadership matters…it matters a great deal.”

The idea is that we will begin by discussing current books which are important to the business community.  Thus, in terms of breadth we will not discuss solely the discipline of leadership.  We will discuss both the traditional category we label leadership as well as leading thoughts across the business functions.  This broad approach to discussing leadership within the context of marketing, corporate communication, law, organizational behavior, and of course traditional leadership will allow us to discuss many timely and important topics.

But since leadership matters, we will dive deep and discuss what these ideas mean for people who want to exercise leadership within their office, organization, or industry.

From time-to-time we hope to bring in guest executives to comment.  We will also try to invite the authors to share a few words. At the end of the day, we hope to add something that listeners find useful, that members of SMU and other academic communities find thoughtful, and that everyone enjoys listening to once a month.

We hope to have the first episode on-line in early October.  Stay tuned!
